Naomi Shmuel, anthropologist, author and parent counselor. Naomi came to Israel from England in 1983. For many years she has worked with both children & parents in the Ethiopian community, concentrating on issues of identity & cultural transition. Her books are widely used throughout the schools in Israel to foster cross-cultural understanding & acceptance. As "Guest Author" of the Ministry of Education Naomi has visited numerous schools throughout the country. In 2010 she completed her Masters Degree in Folklore at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 2012 she won the Prime Minister's Prize for Literature, and in 2013 she won the Akum Prize for an unpublished manuscript. In 2010, together with Manberu Shimon, Naomi founded the "Project for Cultural Competence", which trains professionals in the skills required for working in a multi-cultural environment.
